Site Appraisals

Mercury Planning carries out precise and detailed initial assessments of site development potential. The objective is to assess the potential outcome, programme and budget for obtaining planning permission. We examine national, strategic and local planning policies; assess the site and surroundings; and any proposal advanced; and report on prospects.

The precision and detail of assessments is an essential ingredient in their usefulness and this requires skills and experience.

Such site appraisals not only improve chances of success on application but are also a very useful time management technique. Much time is spent by consultants and clients on prospective developments. Our assessments enable clients to distinguish between proposals with potential and those with little chance of obtaining approvals. They are the foundation for efficiency and success at subsequent stages of the development process such as applications and appeals.

We assess sites for landowners as well as for developers and consultants. Sites may have limited potential for the development initially suggested but excellent potential for another form of development.

Co-operation with planning authorities is also greatly assisted if proposals take into account valid policy concerns from the outset.
